Teenage Boy Left Permanently Blind In One Eye After Being Stabbed With A Pen

When parents drop their children off at school, they hope that their offspring are not only growing and learning, but are safe and healthy while doing so. Teachers and other school staff work around the clock to ensure the best safety they can for their children, but a schoolyard incident out in Kent left one boy with a devastating permanent injury.

15-year-old Haydn Smith was playing football at his school in East Malling, Kent, when another boy approached him with a pen, and stabbed him in the eye. He was rushed to a specialist hospital and operated on as doctors tried desperately to save his eye, but Haydn will now have to contend with blindness in one eye as his retina was left permanently damaged.
