Celebrities You Never Knew Owned Their Own Private Islands

Wouldn’t it be nice to own your own private island? I’d like to have one, preferably someplace warm with my own personal staff and I could just dance around in my bathing suit all day without anyone being able to disturb me. My toughest decision of the day would be beach or pool?

Of course, owning a luxurious private island costs a lot of money, so it’s no surprise that only the wealthiest of celebrities seem to have them. We’re all familiar with Richard Branson’s Necker Island home, but did you know Ricky Martin also owns his own island?

I bet more celebrities own private islands than you think! Check out the list below to find out who’s not only living a lifestyle of the rich and famous but also secretly enjoying the island life!

Eddie Murphy

It’s no secret Eddie Murphy has taken a step back from the bright lights of Hollywood and appears to be all but retired these days. To be fair he has been working for decades and deserves a peaceful retirement like the rest of us!

In 2007, Eddie decided to make his retirement days a little more luxurious when he purchased Rooster Cay, an island in the Bahamas for $15 million dollars!

David Copperfield

All it took was a little magic, and a lot of hard work, for David Copperfield to also nab a piece of personal paradise in the Bahamas. According to Forbes, Copperfield is the most commercially successful stage magician in history, so it shouldn’t be surprising that he’s also an island owner.

In fact, Copperfield has not one but four private islands in the Bahamas! Turns out, you can come visit him, too. One of the Islands, Musha Cay, has a resort where you can stay for $325,000 per week. Hmm, maybe he can magically make that much money appear in my wallet first.

If you thought having four islands was cool, check out which well-known celebrity owns one of the largest private islands on record!
